BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Campos graduated Dental School in 2001, obtained her MSc in Biological Sciences in 2004, PhD in Oral Pathology in 2008 and Certification in Oral Pathology in 2010, all from Brazil. She worked as a General dentist and Oral Pathologist for 10 years in her private practice and was also teaching and doing research in three different Universities in Brazil. She has experience supervising undergraduate, and graduate students (MSc and PhD levels), and had received awards for her teaching and mentoring throughout her career. She also actively serves as a reviewer for a number of important journals. Dr. Campos did a post-doctoral training at the University of Michigan in 2008-2009 where she gained experience with cancer stem cells and returned to the University of Michigan, Department of CRSE, years later as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor until 2016. She, then, joined the University of Iowa and continued teaching Treatment planning and Comprehensive Care for 4 years. Due to her unique Basic Sciences and Clinical background she was invited to serve as the Interprofessional Education (IPE) representative of the College of Dentistry in the University of Iowa IPE Committee and started to get more involved with the subject. With close to 10 years of teaching experience, Dr. Campos moved back to the University of Michigan in 2020, re-joining the Department of CRSE as an Associate Clinical Professor. She has been contributing in Pre clinic, VICs and Cariology courses, was recently added as a member of the DEI-MAC (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Multicultural Affairs Committee) and named to U-M’s IPE Leadership Program for 2021-22 cohort. Great part of her research career was dedicated to the study of Oral biofilms and Oral diseases, especially Oral Cancer with a number of peer reviewed published papers including cover pages of important international research journals. Recently, her research focus has shifted to IPE and Cariology fields, and she hopes to contribute to advance learning in Dentistry, stimulate interprofessional collaborative practices and patient-centered care approaches, and improving the interaction between Cariology topics into the clinical setting.
