BIOGRAPHY
Dr. González-Cabezas, DDS, MSD, PhD, is the Richard Christiansen Collegiate Professor of Oral and Craniofacial Global Initiatives at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He is part of the Department of Cariology, Restorative Sciences and Endodontics and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
Dr. González joined the UM School of Dentistry in 2009 after teaching and conducting research at Indiana University for 13 years. He is the school's discipline co-coordinator for cariology and has directed or co-directed several pre-doctoral and graduate courses in cariology or global service learning. From 2015 to 2020, he led multiple and diverse opportunities for dental students to learn in a global environment. Since July 2020, he dedicates most of his time to his new role as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs that overseas all educational programs in the school, curriculum development and management, educational quality assessment and improvement, and academic support for the faculty.
Dr. González continues to be engaged in clinical and laboratory research projects; many of them in collaboration with other institutions from all over the world. He has particular research interest in professionally applied anticaries products and translational caries models.
Dr. González also continues to treat patients at the dental faculty associates clinic of the school of dentistry.
