The Facilities Department at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry is dedicated to creating and maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Our team oversees building operations, maintenance, security, and custodial services to ensure that all educational, clinical, and research spaces function optimally. We collaborate closely with other departments to facilitate renovations, manage facility requests, and uphold the highest standards of health and safety. By fostering a welcoming and efficient setting, the Facilities Department helps advance the school’s mission of excellence in dental education, patient care.

Building Repairs and Maintenance
Examples: replacement of stained or missing ceiling tiles, too hot/too cold/humidity issues, lights out, door problems, clogged drains, leaks

Custodial Services
Examples: requests for special cleaning for events, general service, repair of soap/towel dispensers

Facilities Services
Examples: requests for additional furniture, removal of furniture, moving furniture, hanging items, small architectural projects, suggestions for building improvements, requests for interior design or architectural services, sending items to Property Disposition.

Grounds Services
Examples: requests for snow or ice removal, sidewalk salt, tree trimming, mowing

Pest Management
Examples: Bugs, rodents, dead animal removal

Building Access and Hours

  • Patient entrance is open during clinic hours
  • Exterior Dental Doors are unlocked to MCard access from 7:15 am - 5:30 pm
  • After hours access is only available to Dental Faculty, Staff and Students
  • For access to Card reader doors submit a ticket.

Reflection/prayer room

A reflection/prayer room is located in room 3046

Cafe and vending

  • Cafe 32 is open in the morning and shortly after lunch. It is located on G level in the Kellogg building.
  • Vending machines are available 24/7 in the basement by the Staff Lounge.
