The purpose of the University of Michigan's student chapter of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) is to promote a better understanding and appreciation of dentistry for infants and children among dental students here at the University of Michigan. Its ultimate objective is to foster a relationship between dental students and the pediatric community through educational presentations, screenings and dental projects.
The University of Michigan's student chapter of the AAPD participates in Boo Bash, Special Smiles, Give Kids A Smile, oral hygiene instructions at local elementary schools, and other events throughout the year. Membership in this organization is open to all predoctoral dental students at the University of Michigan.
