Ann Arbor, Mich., May 24, 2016 –- The University of Michigan Board of Regents has approved the promotions of two School of Dentistry faculty members, Dr. Lucia Cevidanes and Dr. Darnell Kaigler, Jr., to associate professors with tenure.
In announcing the promotions, which are effective Sept. 1, Dean Laurie McCauley cited the professors’ dedication to the university, school and profession. “The successes of our school have always been the direct result of the commitment to excellence by individuals such as these,” she said.
Dr. Cevidanes teaches both predoctoral and graduate courses in the Department of Orthodontics. Her research interests include 3D imaging to solve difficult clinical problems in orthodontics, current and new treatment approaches and technical procedures, and treatment outcomes for craniofacial anomalies and dentofacial deformities.
In his work in the Division of Periodontics in the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine, Dr. Kaigler’s research focuses on the development of tissue engineering strategies to regenerate and engineer intra-oral tissues including bone, gingiva, salivary gland tissue and tooth-related structures.
