February is National Children's Dental Health Month and provides a wonderful opportunity to spread the news about children's oral health in the nation and State of Michigan.
Dr. Margherita Fontana, professor of dentistry in the Department of Cariology, Restorative Sciences and Endodontics is among the key researchers participating in the Michigan Caries Prevention Program (MCPP). MCPP is a collaboration between the U-M School of Dentistry, the Altarum Institute, Delta Dental of Michigan and the Michigan Department of Community Health. The aim of this important initiative is to reduce the burden of early childhood caries by working with primary care providers and dentists and by developing and enhancing supporting health information technologies for referrals between dentists and pediatricians.
