Twitter Aids Migraine Researchers

Ann Arbor, MI — April 3, 2014 — A new study published by a University of Michigan School of Dentistry researcher is trying to shed more light on a common affliction, migraine headaches, that affects millions worldwide.  Information was gathered in real time from individuals using Twitter.  Dr. Alex DaSilva, director of the Headache and Orofacial Pain Effort, says “Twitter proved to be a powerful source of knowledge for migraine research.”

Trained observers reviewed and evaluated more than 14,000 migraine tweets that were collected for seven consecutive days from Twitter users.  The results were published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research.  Read more...
