Overview

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) imaging is becoming an increasingly important technology in orthodontics. While most orthodontists agree that CBCT images can enhance diagnosis and / or treatment planning in select types of patients, substantial disagreement exists on the value of its routine use in orthodontics.

The 39^th Annual Moyers Symposium will provide an objective cutting-edge forum on the indications for CBCT imaging in clinical orthodontics and research, clinical insights gained from these images and innovations driven by these insights.  More specifically, the symposium will cover topics such as technology assessment, evidence based guidelines on case types and protocols for use, missed and incidental findings, medicolegal implications, novel discoveries using CBCT, radiation exposure, integration of CBCT data and emerging technologies as well as future developments in CBCT and 3D imaging.  The program is designed to progress sequentially through specific topics with minimal overlap so as to build the knowledge base of the participants logically in this important and rapidly evolving field.

The speakers include recognized authorities in CBCT and 3D imaging and comprise Oral Maxillofacial Radiologists- one with a dual training in law, Orthodontists, and a Medical Radiologist. Also, this year’s Presymposium will supplement the symposium by focusing entirely on CBCT and 3D imaging and will provide a substantial preamble to the Symposium.  For this reason, you are encouraged to attend both the Symposium and Presymposium.  There is no registration fee for the Presymposium.
