R. Scott Conley, DMD
Robert W. Browne Endowed Professor and
Dr. R. Scott Conley received his undergraduate degree from Hamilton College and his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania where he was also elected into Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He received his orthodontic degree from Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 1999. After completing his orthodontic residency he joined the full time faculty at Vanderbilt serving for the next seven years. Dr. Conley joined the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 2006.
Dr. Conley focuses his research efforts on clinical projects. His primary focus is surgical orthodontics with a focus on the diagnosis and management of obstructive sleep apnea. He is also working on multiple clinical investigations in the area of three dimensional imaging and the new information it provides.
Dr Conley has both predoctoral and graduate teaching responsibilities. He currently serves as the Graduate Orthodontic Clinic Director. He is also the Co-Director of the Undergraduate Orthodontic Curriculum with Dr. Ulla Crouse. He oversees patients in the graduate orthodontic clinic on Monday afternoons while leading didactic instruction in surgical orthodontics, biomechanics, and the Graber Textbook Review Course.
Dr. Conley has received multiple awards including the Robert M. Ricketts Faculty Development Award from the AAOF, the 2005 and 2007 Edward H Angle Research Foundation Awards, and the 2007 American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics Case Report of the Year in 2007.
