The Computerized Dentistry Program offers a unique opportunity for qualified dentists to pursue advanced didactic education and clinical experience in the emerging field of digital and CAD/CAM technology for comprehensive dental treatment. The one-year program of study includes didactic, laboratory, and comprehensive patient care experiences that are focused on the application of computerized treatment techniques. The Computerized Dentistry Program Unit has been a leader in education and research with computerized systems and has a wide array of marketed systems available for hands-on, patient-care experience as a part of the educational program.
The primary focus topics will include the development and evolution of computerized dental systems, digital impression equipment and techniques, chairside CAD/CAM restorations and their clinical application, esthetic evaluation and design, virtual imaging and treatment planning methods for natural teeth and implants, as well as emerging applications of computerized technology. Computerized dental systems are a rapidly emerging aspect of dental practice and graduates of this program will be well positioned to become leaders in the continued development and integration of digital techniques as a routine aspect of comprehensive patient care.
