Dr. Areej Al-Hawarini graduated from King Saud University in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in dental surgery.  During her internship rotations she was exposed to all disciplines of dentistry and with mentorship from great consultants.  Dr. Al Hawarini developed a strong enthusiasm to learn from their experience and developed an interest in how to provide comprehensive dental care, treatment decision making, diagnostic, therapeutic and patient management skills. In 2007 she finished a two-year general practice residency program at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center.  During the program she was exposed to patients who had been treated for conditions such as cleft lip and palate, and head and neck cancer patients who had received head and neck surgeries.  It made her appreciate the discipline of prosthodontics in restoring oral health and function and orally rehabilitate these patients.  In April 2008, she joined Riyadh Military Hospital & Al Kharj Military Industries Corporation Hospital.  She worked as a general dentist and was able to obtain a scholarship to pursue her graduate studies.  In September 2010, she joined the graduate prosthodontics program at the University of Michigan.  Dr. Al Hawarini is married and has a beautiful baby girl, named Lara.
